Patriots seeing progress in key problem areas After their first home win of the season, the Patriots' new-look team is starting to get some of their biggest issues fixed. The left tackle missed last week's game against the Chiefs, and a timetable for his return remains unclear. Stanley ankle is inactive for Sunday's game against the Chiefs.

Stanley didn't participate in practice this week as he continues to deal with an ankle injury, and he'll be unavailable for the second game of the year. Alejandro Villanueva will shift to left tackle against Kansas City, while Patrick Mekari is expected to make his first career start at right tackle. The Ravens have listed Stanley ankle as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Chiefs. Stanley was a non-participant at practice during the week, so his questionable designation is seemingly a little optimistic.

If he is ultimately unable to go, look for Alejandro Villanueva to slide to his more natural spot at left tackle, leaving Patrick Mekari to step in on the right side. The Ravens are preparing for Stanley to sit out Sunday's game against the Chiefs and possibly additional contests to follow while he undergoes more medical testing for an ankle injury that prevented him from practicing Wednesday, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.

Baltimore isn't expected to provide another update on Stanley until after Thursday's practice, but the first-team All-Pro left tackle appears to have suffered a setback with the ankle that he fractured and dislocated Nov. Following a pair of surgeries, Stanley was able to make it back to action for the Week 1 loss to the Raiders, though quarterback Lamar Jackson was still sacked three times and faced a fair amount of pressure on most of his dropbacks.

If Stanley is in fact forced to miss time, Alejandro Villanueva would likely move over to his more natural spot at left tackle, while swing tackle Patrick Mekari would step in on the right side. Stanley ankle wasn't listed on Thursday's injury report. Stanley has undergone two ankle surgeries since suffering a dislocated ankle and multiple torn ligaments last November. The first-round pick is back to full health, and he'll protect quarterback Lamar Jackson's blindside in The star left tackle came off the PUP list to make his first appearance of training camp, exactly five weeks before the Ravens take on the Raiders in their MNF season opener.
