Intense summer heat can be dangerous. The Best time to hike is October through April. Do not attempt to make the full summit hike without plenty of water and proper hiking shoes. You should be an experienced hiker in good health staying within your physical condition and abilities to handle a strenuous hike. Each year there are many rescues of hikers that found the summit hike more difficult than expected. The trailhead parking lot can become full at peak times.

Optional parallel parking is usually available on North Echo Canyon Parkway. It is illegal to park on any other street in the surrounding neighborhoods.
