We have been to Wasabi 3 to 4 times. The first couple of times the food seemed really good. This time, the fish was too oily and the tempura not very crisp. The food was OK but not outstanding. However, this may just have been our selection and other things on the menu may have been better. Also, for those who like wine with dinner as opposed to beer or sake or plum wine , Wasabi does not have a standard wine list. The quality of fish used here is top notch! All of the appetizers we tried were hits.
Highly recommended if you are looking for sushi in the Castro. Wasabi Bistro serves delicious, inventive Japanese food -- a large selection of rolls, sushi an sashimi, tempura and skewers. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service was prompt and personal, despite the fact that the place was packed on a Friday night.
Be sure to order the bacon wrapped shrimp and a couple of their rolls. Beer, wine and sake are available and there are booths and tables. All the staff were extremely pleasant and professional. Highly recommended! Good service and pretty good selection of sushi. This is good if you have time to spare, not so great if you're in a rush. My extended family.
Superior service, which is important in a sushi restaurant where the waiters have multiple orders from a table. The sushi was superb, including the hard-to-succeed items. Great food, service, ambiance and price. This is a new neighborhood restaurant. We were very impressed with the quality of the food, the taste, the presentation and freshness.
The atmosphere is nice and the service is very good. We will be back. The host was rude and not very personable - wait staff was much better, but the experience and the front door set the whole tone Wasabi Bistro offers takeout which you can order by calling the restaurant at Skip to Main Content. Variously described as a civilized speakeasy, a supper club and an elegant saloon, BIX offers modern American cuisine served in a soaring two-story dining room to the strains of live jazz nightly. BIX is known for a deep devotion to local products and suppliers. Much of our food comes directly to the restaurant from local farms.
The chicken was dry on a couple of visits, but both are generally good foundations on which to build a complete meal. Most are served with either tahini or tzatziki sauces, which perk up the main ingredients.
With Monterey Jack, cheddar and Gruyere cheeses blending into a deliciously gooey sauce, it's some of the best around. Served with a scoop of gelato, it's all you really need. And ultimately, despite an overly ambitious menu and some less-than-perfect dishes, Bistro 9 is good at providing just that - all you really need for a solid weeknight meal.
